Dr. Jason Gu was born in Jiangsu, P.R. China. He received a B. Sc. degree in 1992 from the  Department of Electrical Engineering & Information Science (Special Class for the Young Gifted 1987-1990), University of Science and Technology of China, M. Sc. degree in 1995 from Biomedical & Instrumentation Engineering,  Jiaotong University (Shanghai), China and Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

 

  Since September 2000, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Dalhousie University and is presently a professor of Electrical Engineering.
  He is currently the assocaite editor for Journal of Control and Intelligent Systems, International Journal of Robotics and Automation and IEEE Transaction on Mechatronics
  He enjoys sports (all racquet sports, including badminton and tennis) and music.

  Most Friendly Professor , Presented during the 2003 Electrical and Computer Engineering graduates banquet.
  Faculty of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award , Presented during the 2003 Convocation on May 23 rd at Dalhousie University .
  Best Paper Award , International Conference on Control Science and Engineering, Harbin , China , 2003.
  IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor Award , (Only 10 annual award will be given to over 1300 IEEE student branch counselors), 2004.
  2005 Discovery Award in the category of The Emerging Professionals award for Nova Scotia , Canada .

  2010 Halifax Ambassador
