Rylan receives the 2011 National Award for Graduate Work in Inorganic Chemistry (Chemical Institute of Canada), and will present his award lecture in June 2011 at the Canadian Society for Chemistry Conference and Exhibition.

 

Mark was awarded a Faculty of Science Killam Research Professorship (2011-2016) in recognition of outstanding research achievements.

 

Kevin, Matt and Mark have a full paper entitled, “Probing Mesitylborane and Mesitylborate Ligation Within the Coordination Sphere of Cp*Ru(PiPr3)+: A Combined Synthetic, X-Ray Crystallographic, and Computational Study.” accepted to Inorganic Chemistry.

Craig Wheaton (University of Lethbridge, currently finishing his PhD with Prof. Paul Hayes) was awarded a Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship, which he will take up in the Stradiotto group in the fall of 2011.

Chris and Mark have a manuscript entitled, “Platinum-Catalyzed Alkene Cyclohydroamination: Evaluating the Utility of Bidentate P,N/P,P Ligation and Phosphine-Free Catalyst Systems.” accepted to Organometallics.

 

Kevin successfully defends his PhD and is off to conduct postdoctoral research in November with Jonathan Ellman (Yale University) as an NSERC-PDF.

Pam wins “Best Oral Presentation” for her talk entitled: “Synthesis and Reactivity of Palladium-Ligand Intermediates in the Catalytic Cycle of Ammonia Arylation Employing a New Phenylene P,N-Ligand”. Congrats!

Rylan, Pam, and Mark have a manuscript entitled, “A P,N-Ligand for Pd-Catalyzed Ammonia Arylation: Coupling of Deactivated Aryl Chlorides, Chemoselective Arylations, and Room Temperature Reactions.” accepted to Angewandte Chemie.

 

Strem Chemicals commercializes the C-N cross coupling ligands “Me-DalPhos” and “Mor-DalPhos” that were developed in the Stradiotto research group.
