The Student Experience
Students in our laboratory become proficient in a wide range of areas. This diversity of experience is a direct result of the kind of research carried out in our labs. Successful students have the opportunity to master a wide range of concepts (e.g. physical organic and synthetic organic chemistry), organic chemistry techniques (e.g. laboratory synthesis of highly purified organic compounds and characterization by modern methods such as NMR spectroscopy), and physical chemistry techniques (e.g. nanosecond and femtosecond lasers, digital data acquisition, and mathematical analyses of data). The multidisciplinary nature of our research also provides a tremendous atmosphere for the growth of problem-solving abilities, as well as enriched writing and oral presentation skills which are needed to effectively connect experimental results with scientific conclusions.
Students have done very well upon graduating from our laboratory Dane are well positioned for a successful career in Chemistry.
