My research is orientated around the application of computational methods in design practice. This approach involves participation and observation of live projects and seeks to develop a deeper understanding of these methods in the broader context of design.

Current work focuses on the potential for parametric and computational tools to augment, assist and extend the design decision making process through rapid cycling of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. Specific areas of interest are the incorporation of known passive environmental principles and methods of numerical manufacture into parametric models. Early application of these approaches is seen as an opportunity to test the whole design and construction sequence. This allows both the process and the design to be refined through iterations that combine testing of physical and computer models.
