I occupy an office in the Life Sciences Building: I have been in this department at the university since 1979 and currently teach the first year Introductory Geology Laboratory classes, the Earth Sciences Field School (or camp), the Sediments and Sedimentary Rock Laboratory class, the Introduction to Paleontology Laboratory class and co-teach the Earth Sciences Computing Field School (or camp). My research interests are in Pedagogy of Earth Sciences and Sciences in general, the Geology of Nova Scotia, Geoscience Outreach, and in a minor way, Structural Geology. I am also interested in ecology and sustainable development especially where it involves mining and farming (I am a co-owner of an organic farm and member of two co-housing operations). Recreational pursuits are varied but generally include playing old-timers hockey, kayaking off-shore Nova Scotia, caving, field trips and camping, and bicycling around Halifax. |
