SUMMER FLOWERS II

Walter Aue and Helga Kraus, Summer 2001

Remember what I told you? The second bouquet is even larger than the first one...
.
.
.
How cool to start with
an American line.

Why American, you ask?

Well, it's on top.
And it's red, white and blue -
at least when seen
the Canadian way:
all upside down.

Cool Blue

.
White lilies
still come
from green buds

Lily White?

.
Remember them
from the Good Book?

The psalmist had it right:
They have but little needs.

Seem them grow wild
in Nova Scotia:
just for the living,
just for the beauty.

Lilies of the Field

.

.
.
.
What they guard?
The Guarden, of course.

Guards

.
In the foreground:
Tame Marguerites (daisies)
protesting globalization.

In the background:
Wild Lupins
practicing crowd control.

Crowds

.

.
.
.
Pink Poppy, Blue Spruce (I think).

No Escape

.
I know it's overdone.

But who is to argue
with matters of the heart?

Matters of the Heart

.
Spruced-up lupins.

(Yes, they also grow wild
in Nova Scotia.)

Three in a Loop

.

.
.
.
Oriental Poppy of the garden variety.
In the background: Sweet William

Puppy Passion

.
I like that picture
of a white Iris.

Did the picture
get your attention -
or did the title?

We wanted you to know,
we bought it for a blue Iris.

But it turned out white
and we still love it.

And, yes, it's all natural:
Location, light and colors.

Only brightness and contrast
have been adjusted
(for your own good
and that of your computer).

Here as in
all the other pictures...

Pregnant Bride

.

.
.
.
Eternal triangles:
Are they genetic?

Odd Symmetry

.
Actually, it's a feeding place.

But feeding becomes easier
when you first ask
for only a resting place.

A Resting Place

.
Austrian pine -
against the blue sky
above our house.

I like that.

Candles

.

.
.
.
(Dandelions in an apple orchard
near Blomidon, Nova Scotia)

The lion once lay with the lamb.
But then came the snake with the apple
and made the pretty DandyLion
a weed like the rest of us.

Now we hate it.
Damned apple!

Lions under Apple Trees

.
Late blooms on a wild apple tree

Forgotten Purpose

.

.
.
.
There are lots of wild apple trees in Nova Scotia. Usually between a rock and a hard place. But the deer still cares. And so does the occasional photographer...

Up Against the Rock

.
Don't ask me.

I care for the beauty,
not the name.

Unless I eat it.

In the Woods

.
When the lupines want to grow
in my front lawn,
next to the Austrian pine,
I let them.

Peace be to my mower,
peace be to my mind,
peace be to you...

Waving Bye, Bye...

.
