Karl von Gerok:

Herbst-Gefühl

Müder Glanz der Sonne!
Blasses Himmelblau!
Von verklung'ner Wonne
Träumet still die Au.

An der letzten Rose
Löset lebenssatt
Sich das letzte lose,
Bleiche Blumenblatt!

Goldenes Entfärben
Schleicht sich durch den Hain!
Auch Vergeh'n und Sterben
Däucht mir süß zu sein.

Karl von Gerok:

Fall Feeling

Sunlight's tired gleaming!
Sky's aquamarine!
Meadows still are dreaming
of the joy they'd seen.

From the last of roses,
leaving all its strife,
soft metamorphosis
fades the petal's life.

Lighter hues applying
pales the golden tree!
Even death and dying
seem so sweet to me...

The rose seems to be the fall guy (or girl) for the German poet: Some other authors of that genre are Rückert, Flaischlen and Kalbeck. And many, many more!

Imagine what would happen if this were a site not only of autumn but also of spring!

N.B.: The frame around the poems
shows trees in autumn.
