generation loss series degradation, contrasted with evolution. the now defunct concept of generations of copies devolving the further you get from the master. digital reproduction ended that limitation. two seemingly opposite concepts that share the same root - generation loss, and generational evolution; the refinement of a later version honed through experience, taking forward pieces of the parent, and yet responding to a distinct set of environmental stimuli.
