Opportunities for Graduate Research
in Mineral Resource Engineering and Geomechanics

Graduate Research Assistantships are available from time to time for highly qualified graduate students at the Master's and Ph.D. levels for conducting research in Mining, Petroleum and geotechnical Engineering. Our current research focuses on non-destructive rock bolt testing and monitoring using guided ultrasonic waves, mine hazards and geohazards prevention.

To be eligible, the candidates must meet all requirements for Graduate Studies in Dalhousie University. The candidates will be required to carry out research efficiently towards his/her thesis and produce publications. Background / knowledge in Mining, Petroleum, Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering is preferred (other candidates who are willing and quick to learn are also encouraged to apply). The candidates should have very good academic records, be self-motivated and responsible with good personality, and must have excellent English proficiency. Relevant industrial experience will be an asset.

Potential graduate positions may also be available in geohazards prevention, debris flow mechanism and warning under Professor's Zou research collaboration with Chengdu Shan-di-suo of Chinese Academy of Science in China for one year or longer. International travel and accommodations are subsidized.
